A good quality Georgian carver chair dating from the late 18th / early 19th Century. It is made of mahogany with a beautifully carved and pierced interlacing back splat. It stands on square chamfered legs and the chair has a drop-in seat pad which has been recently upholstered and covered in a good quality cream calico.
The chair has been well used and has developed a lovely rich patina. It has been well looked after and maintained over the years and as such has some good old repairs but it is strong and sturdy. There are some other minor signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks here and there but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
The chair is a good size and comfortable to sit in however it is an inch or two lower than a normal chair. It stands approximately 36" (91cm) high and is 25" (64cm) wide across the arms. It is 19" (49cm) deep and the seat is approximately 16" (41cm) high to the top of the cushion pad.
