A beautiful mahogany bow fronted chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. Excellent quality and very well made with a lovely patina and attractive flame mahogany drawer fronts. The oak lined drawers have brass plate handles which, although aren't original, suit the piece well. The top has a moulded edge and inlaid ebony strung border and the chest stands on sweeping bracket feet.
It is in good condition for its age and has been re-french polished to bring out the lovely colour and grain of the wood. The drawers open well, having had their runners recently replaced or repaired, and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are the usual small signs of wear, some minor marks on the top and some repairs to chips in the veneer around the drawers but nothing detrimental. There have been repairs to the feet but they are strong and sturdy. The chest has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
