A fine example of a beautiful travelling Vanity Box / Writing Box dating from the early 19th Century. The outer of the box is made of the finest quality rosewood with brass banding, brass corners and inset military style brass handles and the box comes with its original working key.
The box has a fully fitted interior lined with a removable mirror in the lid. The top of the box contains 4 glass pots with silver plates tops, a shaving brush, razor and sharpener. There is a small brass rod which releases the drawer below. This drawer has a leather top layer which is fitted with various boot pulls, hooks, scissors and other instruments. This then lifts out to reveal a writing section below with a pen tray and it's original inkwell and pounce pot.
Overall the box is in excellent condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some signs of age and use and some minor marks but overall it displays beautifully with a lovely patina. The interior is generally clean and tidy. Some of the lids have small dents and dinks in them and there are some small chips and nibbles around the glass but no major damages or anything detrimental.
