A superb brass desk lamp dating from the early 20th Century. It is a very well made and stylish piece with a heavy brass base, simple square column and adjustable brass shade. It is exceptionally large and twice the size of other lamps of this size. It must have been made for the Bank Manager's desk or perhaps the reception desk rather than a clerk's desk.
The base of the lamp measures approximately 6" (15cm) square. The shade is 9" (23cm) wide and the lamp stands 21" (53cm) tall.
The lamp has been re-wired and PAT Tested and is in good working order. The original bulb holder has been preserved with its original brass beaded on/off pull and it takes a standard bayonet bulb (bulb not included with lamp).
It is in good condition for its age. The brass has tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor dinks and surface marks here and there but overall it displays very well. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
