A good quality folding step ladder dating from the early 20th century. It is made from pine with brass strips across each step and cast iron hinges stamped "SIMPLEX LADDER". There is an additional cast iron support mechanism which locks the steps in place once put out and the catch must be released to fold them down. This is stamped "SELF ACTING STOP. PAT No. 6958" .
They are very decorative and have a lovely patina showing lots of wear and use. They are strong and sturdy although, given their age, we would recommend they are not suitable for heavy use and are rather a decorative or display item.
They are in good original condition. There are some small knocks, surface marks and a couple of old repairs but no major damages and no worm.
