A lovely antique oak desk dating from the early 20th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has its original art nouveau style copper handles and the pedestals have a plinth base with small castors below. The top of the desk has a beautiful inset green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
It is an excellent quality example and the locks are stamped "Hobbs & Co London. Lever. Machine Made". The desk is nicely finished on all sides and would suit being in the centre of a room as well as being against a wall.
The desk is in very good condition for its age and has been well looked after. The oak has a lovely warm colour and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor stains and marks. There are some normal signs of age and use, a few minor knocks, light surface marks and small chips around the base but nothing detrimental. There has been a small repair on one inner edge (see photo). The desk does not come with any keys. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
