A fine example of an early Victorian silver teapot. It has an attractive bulbous shape raised on four ornate feet topped with a leaf knob finial. It has a silver handle with ivory insulators and a hinged lid.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for London, 1841 and the maker John Welby. There are also hallmarks on the handle and below the lid. It is an excellent quality piece and it weighs approximately 764g.
It is in very good condition for its age. There are some minor surface marks, small dinks and knocks but no major damages or anything detrimental and it displays beautifully.
