Product Details

A superb example of a large oak pedestal desk dating from the mid 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole. Each drawer has its original brass handle and the top of the desk has a beautiful inset green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.

It is an excellent quality example and the desk is nicely finished on all sides with a panelled back and would suit being in the centre of a room as well as being against a wall.

The desk is in very good condition for its age and has been well looked after. The oak has developed a lovely rich colour and the drawers open well. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy with just some minor marks. There are some normal signs of age and use, a few minor knocks, light surface marks and small chips around the base and a couple of old repairs but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
