A lovely primitive country chair dating from the early to mid 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat and a hoop back enclosing simple hand drawn spindles. It stands on ring turned legs joined by a H-stretcher.
The rear of the seat is stamped with maker's initials "B.F"
It is in good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. It has developed a lovely aged patina and there are areas remaining of the original stain which has crackled over time. There have been some minor old repairs and various signs of age and use but nothing detrimental or untoward. It is a small sized chair and is likely to have lost a little bit of height from the legs over the years.
It is approximately 33" / 84cm high, 21" / 53cm wide across the arms, 17 1/2" / 45cm deep and the seat is 14" / 36cm high.
