Fine example of a popular and rare Clarice Cliff pattern beautifully hand painted on a large octagonal bowl. The bowl displays very well and is unmistakably Clarice Cliff. The pattern itself is set on a 'Cafe Au Lait' background in a striking mottled green.
The bowl is fully stamped on the underneath with "Cafe Au Lait. Hand Painted. Bizarre by Clarice Cliff. Newport Pottery England"
The bowl is in good condition. There are no chips, cracks or restoration and it is free from crazing. There are some light rubbing marks on the inside of the bowl commensurate with age and use and some minor surface scratches and marks around the outside of the bowl but nothing detrimental. The colours have remained bright and vibrant and it displays beautifully.
