A superb antique telescope by Broadhurst Clarkson & Co dating to the late 1800s. The telescope is made of brass and has a single large tube with an extendable eyepiece which focuses the telescope using the rack and pinion knob on the side.
The telescope comes with its original wooden tripod.
Both the telescope and tripod are in good original condition. The telescope has clearly been well looked after and there are no major damages. It has suffered some minor dinks and small knocks to the tube but nothing untoward. There is a small brass plaque on one side, perhaps for engraving or perhaps an old repair. There is tarnishing and light pitting to the brass but it has been cleaned and gently polished and displays beautifully - a real statement piece.
The lenses are undamaged and produce a clear and crisp image with a very good range. Please bear in mind the telescope is 100 years old and the lenses will not be like new. There are some small specks of dirt on the lenses but it is perfectly useable.
Approximate Measurements :
