A beautiful example of a large Art Deco sterling silver purse. It has a silver frame with a fine plaited handle and the main body of the bag is finely linked chainmail with decorative scalloped edging.
It is excellent quality and is clearly hallmarked for London, 1923. It has a maker / retailer’s name engraved by the hallmark “AM & M Ltd”. It weighs approximately 186g.
It is in very good condition for its age and the clasp is strong and secure. The mesh is in good order with no major damages or holes. There are a couple of broken links around the bottom edge of the border but this hasn’t compromised the integrity of the purse and overall it displays very well. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
