A lovely example of an Art Deco sterling silver and bakelite pot, most likely once containing a compact or powder puff. It is lined with a bakelite type material and it is a good quality piece with typical Art Deco design and engine turned decoration.
It is clearly hallmarked for British Metallising Co Ltd, London, 1933.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are signs of age and use, a few small marks and areas of tarnish but no major damages and it displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
