Product Details

A good example of a Windsor chair dating from the mid 19th century. It has a low hooped Yew wood back enclosing tapering spindles and a pierced back splat. It stands on ring turned legs joined by a crinoline stretcher. It has a superb shaped elm seat with a wonderful grain.

It is in good original condition. There are signs of age and use and some light marks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There are a few old repairs and there is a small brass plate across a split on the back of the arm but it is strong and sturdy. It has developed a wonderful rich patina and displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

The chair stands approximately 35 1/2" (90cm) high and 19" (48cm) deep. The seat is 17" (43cm) high and 16" (41cm) deep and arm to arm the chair is 23" (58.5cm) wide.
