Product Details

A good example of an antique farmhouse chair dating from the late 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat with scrolling arms supported by turned spindles. It is high backed with curving splats and stands on bulbous turned legs joined by a double stretcher. The rear of the seat is stamped with a letter 'A' which could be a maker's mark.

It is in good original condition and is strong and sturdy with a lovely rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks around the legs and some surface marks on the seat but nothing detrimental. The chair has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.

The chair stands approximately 45" (114cm) high. Arm to arm is 23 1/2" (60cm) wide and it is approximately 25" (64cm) deep. The seat is 17 1/4" (44cm) high and 18 1/2" (47cm) deep.
