Product Details

A good example of a Windsor chair dating from the mid to late 19th century. It has a high hooped back enclosing tapering spindles and a pierced back splat. It stands on turned legs joined by a crinoline stretcher.

The chair stands approximately 41" (104cm) high, the seat is 15" (38cm) deep and 17" (43cm) high. Arm to arm the chair is 23 1/2" (60cm) wide and overall it is 26" (66cm) deep.

It is in excellent original condition and is strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. There are signs of age and use and some marks and light scratches on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There is a small split in the top hoop (see photo) which hasn't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically. It has developed a wonderful rich patina and there are some signs of an old stain or varnish which has worn over time. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
