Product Details

A lovely example of a primitive Windsor chair with a solid Elm seat, most likely originating from the Westcountry. It has a hoop back enclosing tapered spindles with a three piece arm that curves outwards. The chair stands on four turned legs joined by a H-stretcher. It is a good comfortable chair, sturdy and well made. It has a beautiful patina and the grain on the seat is just lovely.

It is in very good condition for its age and is structurally very sound. The chair is not without some signs of age and use but nothing untoward and it displays beautifully. The seat has warped over the years and the legs have probably lost a little bit of height but it isn't at all detrimental. There have been some old repairs and there are two old metal brackets bracing the back arm but it is strong and sturdy and doesn't concern us.

It is approximately 42" (107cm) high and the arms are 25 1/2" (65cm) wide. The seat is 17" (43cm) deep and stands 15 1/2" (39cm) high.
