A lovely Westcountry tavern settle dating from the 19th Century. It has a panelled back with traditional wing shaped sides and bulbous scrolling arms. It has a thick pine seat and stands on three sleigh feet. It would have originally had cupboard doors below the seat and you can just see where hinges would have once been but these have long since been removed and it sits well as it is.
It is in good condition for its age and has a wonderful patina. The paint has worn back on the seat and the arms to reveal layers of paint through to the warm pine. There are various signs of age and wear, knocks and marks and old splits but no major damages or anything detrimental. It is strong and sturdy and the whole piece has been cleaned and given a gentle wax and is ready for use.
