A fine example of an early 20th Century ship's log by Thomas Walker & Son Ltd of Birmingham. The set consists of a Walker's "Trident" Ship Log, a Cherub Rotator and Wheel. The log is a mechanical counter that measures the ship's speed and distance. The rotator connects by a rope to the wheel, which in turn connects to the ships log. All the items are made of brass and bronze, apart from the wheel, which appears to be galvanised steel.
The set is in good original condition. It has its original rope in tact, if a little frayed near the end. The brass has tarnished through use and there are some scratches on the rotator. The face of the log is worn and has rubbed in places but overall the set displays very nicely and looks very authentic.
Approximate Measurements :
Length of Rotator : 14" (35cm)
Diameter of Wheel : 10" (26cm)
