A good quality walnut bookcase dating from the late 19th Century. It has two glazed doors that open to a shelved interior. The shelves are adjustable and have their original green leather trim. The bookcase also comes with a working key.
It is a good size with nice small proportions and is in good condition for its age. The walnut has developed a wonderful rich aged patina but is not without some small knocks and marks and a small repair to a minor chip in the veneer around the top edge (see photo) but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully. The leather fringe on the shleves has worn in places and the shelves bow slightly from many years of housing heavy books but they remain strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
