A good example of a late Victorian metal deed box with original black paint and original hand written name "A.G.Housego."
These boxes were kept in solicitor's offices or in the home for storing important documents in. The box has two metal carrying handles and inside is the original brass maker's plaque which reads "Holmes & Son. Deed Box Makers. 8 Hand Court. Holborn, London".
The box is in good condition for its age and has a lovely worn aged patina. There are no major damages or splits however there are various surface scratches, marks, paint loss and small dinks but overall it displays very nicely and the inside is clean and tidy. Sadly I do not have a key for the box.
