Product Details

A lovely leather covered writing box dating to the late 19th century. The outer is embossed to resemble a book and when opened reveals a deep blue leather interior. One side folds down to act as a writing slope while the other side has three flaps which open to a pen holder, a document pouch and an inkwell section. This section has a glass inkwell and a wooden pen tray but it also conceals a secret compartment. When the piece of wood next to the pen tray is lifted a secret tray shoots out from under the fittings.

The box comes with it original working bramah key (which must be pushed right in for the duration of the turn to lock/unlock)
Approximate Measurements (closed):
Width : 11 1/2" (29cm)
Length : 12" (30cm)
Height : 3" (8cm)
The box is in good condition for its age. It has been well used and the leather has worn over time and has some stains, wear and minor losses which has created a wonderful authentic worn patina. Inside, it is generally clean and tidy with a few small marks and signs of use and some wear along the leather creases but nothing detrimental. Overall the box displays very well and is certainly a nice usable item.
