A large original 19th Century toleware Tea Bin. This would have originally been used in a shop and filled with loose leaf tea which was then decanted into smaller canisters. It is in its original black paint decorated with gilt Chinese lettering and symbols. It has a good quality hinged mahogany lid.
It is in good condition for its age and displays very well. There are various dents and dinks and some minor losses to the paint in places but nothing detrimental or above what we would expect on something like this. There is some corrosion and rust around the base but the bottom of the canister is raised up from the floor so there aren’t any holes or corrosion on the inside.
