A fabulous antique telescope which comes with both its original tabletop stand and floorstanding tripod. The telescope dates from the late 19th Century and is made of brass with a large leather covered main tube. It has a two draw extendable eyepiece which focuses the telescope using the rack and pinion knob on the side. It also comes with its original brass lens cover.
The telescope fixes to the top of a brass support which has three brass tipped mahogany legs. This enables it to be stood on a tabletop and the telescope angle can be adjusted and swivelled. It also comes with three additional long legs which fit onto the bottom of the smaller ones enabling it to be used as a floor standing telescope as well.
Both the telescope and stand are in excellent condition and display beautifully - a real statement piece. The telescope has clearly been well looked after and there are no major damages. It has suffered some minor dinks and small knocks in places but nothing untoward. The lenses are undamaged and produce a clear and crisp image with a very good range and it is easy to focus. The telescope has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
