Good example of an early 20th Century technical drawing set contained within its original fitted wooden box. The box is superb quality with a brass inlaid escutcheon and a fitted velvet lined interior. The escutcheon is faintly engraved and a date which I believe reads 1939.
The box has two layers and the top tray contains 11 individual steel instruments and accessories fitted inside the case. The top layer lifts out to reveal more storage space below with a ruler and an additional small compass.
It is an excellent quality set and one of the instruments has the engraved name "J & W.E Archbutt. 201 Westminster Bridge Rd London" and the ruler is marked for "Holtzapffel & Co 64 Charing Cross".
The whole set is in good condition for its age. It has obviously been well looked after and all the instruments are in good condition. There is some minor wear and light tarnishing / rust on some of the metal parts but nothing detrimental. The wooden box is in good condition with just some light scuffs and surface scratches and overall it displays very well.
