A superb 19th century seaman's chest made from Teak with rope handles. It has wonderful original painted decoration below the lid which depicts a Naval emblem and the motto "Evil to him that evil think". It has its original internal candle box and original metal hinges.
It is in good condition for its age and has a nice aged and worn patina but it strong and sturdy. There are signs of use and some small repairs and signs of age here and there but noting detrimental. The rope handles have been replaced at some point and there is an old repaired split in the bottom and a split in the lid of the candle box but overall it displays very nicely.
