Product Details

A lovely military campaign chest dating from the late 19th century. They are made of teak with recessed brass handles and stand on tulip shaped bun feet. Typical of campaign furniture they split into two parts and are held in place with small wooden pegs. Each drawer compartment is stamped with a number and there are further numbers underneath the chest. The feet are threaded and would have originally unscrewed but have been fixed in place at some point. I am told they are originally from Portsmouth Docks.

They are in good condition with a nice aged patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and open well and the back is good and solid. They have likely been well travelled but they have been well looked after with just a few small marks, light surface scratches and a few small chips around the edges. They have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
