Product Details

An original theodolite or Surveyor's level dating from the early to mid 20th Century. The Theodolite itself has a black finish with lacquered brass fittings. It is engraved with the maker "Reynolds & Co, Birmingham, 15944".

It is a high quality instrument with an extendable telescope, two spirit levels and adjustment screws in the base to ensure it is exactly level. It screws into a mount that could then sit atop a tripod.

It comes in its original fitted box which has a lovely aged patina. The box is in good order and displays well. Below the lid is an adjustment paper label from J.Halden & Co dated 1943. There are also a couple of further adjustment papers from the 40s and 50s.
It is in good condition and displays well. The theodolite lenses are undamaged and they focus well with a good range and clarity. There are some small knocks and surface marks and some tarnishing to the brass but nothing detrimental and the parts move well. It is not a new instrument and is sold as a collectors item rather than a working scientific instrument.
