Product Details

A good example of a primitive Windsor chair dating from the mid 19th century. It most likely originates from the Westcountry and has a high hooped back enclosing tapering spindles. It stands on turned legs joined by a H-stretcher. It has a lovely shaped elm seat with a wonderful warm colour and grain.

The chair stands approximately 44" (112cm) high and is 24" (61cm) deep. The seat is 15" (38cm) deep and 16 1/2" (42cm) high and arm to arm the chair is 21 1/2" (55cm) wide.

It is in good original condition and is strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. The chair is strong and sturdy and has developed a wonderful rich patina. There are signs of age and use and some light marks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. The bottom of the feet have worn slightly over the years and one has a small metal disc raising it up (see photo). It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
