An unusual 19th Century Staffordshire flat back model of a zebra. It stands against a naturalistic background on an oval base with gilt lining. It is a good quality example and is well modelled with hand painted decoration.
The figure is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and the colours have remained bright and vibrant. There are typical minor flaws, some glaze crazing and small knocks here and there but nothing untoward. There are a couple of chips on the underneath and a small firing crack near his front leg but no other major damages and it displays very nicely.
