A good example of a solid silver presentation trowel with a turned ebonised wooden handle. The trowel is engraved "Presented to The Mayoress of Retford Mrs T E Hollely on her Laying the Foundation Stone of St Saviours Mission Room. August 24th 1909".
It is clearly hallmarked for Sheffield, 1909 and the makers Mappin & Webb.
It is in excellent condition for its age. There are some faint surface marks and a few light marks but nothing untoward or detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.
