A nice example of an antique solid silver hat pin stand with a blue cushion on a silver base. It is an unusual piece with a weather vane style top and a cockerel finial.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, 1908 and William Vale & Sons and there are separate silver hallmarks on the cockerel and the weather vane parts.
It is in good condition for its age. There are some small dinks around the silver base and some faint surface marks and minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There is a small area of solder on the stem below the weather vane ring (see photo) where perhaps there has been an old repair but overall it still displays well.
