A good example of an antique oil lamp burner used alongside microscopes to produce the light source. It dates from the mid to late 1800s and is made of brass with a heavy circular base. It has a glass oil reservoir with glass stopper and a single burner. It has its original blue glass chimney and a further white ceramic chimney over the top which is supported on a brass ring. The height of the burner is adjustable by a small brass tightening knob. There is also a large convex lens on an adjustable arm to further direct the light source towards the microscope.
