Product Details

A good example of an antique oil lamp burner used alongside microscopes to produce the light source. It dates from the mid to late 1800s and is made of brass with a heavy circular base. It has a glass oil reservoir with glass stopper and a single burner. It has its original blue glass chimney and a further white ceramic chimney over the top which is supported on a brass ring. The height of the burner is adjustable by a small brass tightening knob. There is also a large convex lens on an adjustable arm to further direct the light source towards the microscope.

It is in good condition for its age. It has been cleaned and the brass has been lightly polished and it displays very nicely. All parts seem to move as they should. I have not tested the burner but it looks in good order and the wick turner moves freely so I see no reason why it wouldn't work. The only point to note is there are a couple of chips around the top of the white ceramic chimney (see photo).
The lamp comes in its original pine box with brass carrying handle and latches. The box is in good condition with a few age related marks and knocks and small splits but nothing detrimental.
