A good example of a Victorian writing slope dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is made of rosewood with a beautiful patina and comes with a working key.
The box is fitted with a good quality maroon leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge. It comes with a pair of glass inkwells and its original pen tray. Both top and bottom sections of the writing surface lift up to reveal extra storage space below.
The box is in very good condition for its age. There are some general signs of age and use, some knocks and light scuffs and minor marks but nothing untoward or detrimental. The leather writing surface is in excellent order and the interior is generally clean and tidy. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
