A fine example of a beautiful Victorian Rosewood box with brass bound corners and a brass cartouche. Most likely to have once been a sewing or trinket box it has now been relined with a beautiful fitted tray and silk lining. The tray lifts out to reveal an additional lined storage area below. It also has a silk lined side drawer. Both the main box and side drawer come with their original working keys. The lid also conceals an extra storage space behind the lining with a small document holder.
It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use, some light surface marks and a few old repairs but nothing detrimental and overall the piece displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
