Very nice example of an antique pocket barometer in its original leather case dating from the late 19th / early 20th century. The barometer itself is cased in gilt brass with a loop to enable it to be attached to a chain and the face is marked with the maker's name "Ross. London. 668. Compensated".

The barometer comes with its original protective leather case. The case is in nice condition however it is missing its press catch. The leather is nicely worn and has a great patina.

The barometer is in good condition for its age. The glass is undamaged and has no major surface scratches or chips. The face is generally clean and clear to read. There are a few small knocks around the casing and some light scratches / tarnishing on the reverse but only what is to be expected. It displays very nicely. It appears to be in working order although I cannot say for sure how accurate it is - I have done the 'bag test' and it moves as expected.
