Product Details

Fantastic example of an original early to mid 20th Century Pipe Rack carved by the inhabitants on the famous Pitcairn Island. The rack has three large holes in the top and a row of seven smaller holes along the bottom. This is a particularly fine example and the detail and quality of the carving is superb with a carving of the Bounty itself.

This pipe rack has been made by Walma Warren, a direct descendant of the founders, who was born on the island in 1924. The inscription reads "A Souvenir and Best Wishes From Pitcairn Island. A Lonely Island in the Pacific. Pitcairn Island. Made By Walma Warren".
The pipe rack has been very well made but still retains a naive charm about it and is in excellent condition for its age. There is some natural wear to the wood and some minor surface scratches but there are no major damages and it has a lovely patina.
