A lovely pine writing desk dating from the mid 19th century. It has 6 drawers arranged around a central arched kneehole, each with turned wooden knobs and brass escutcheons. There is a small raised gallery around the top surface and it stands on plinth bases.
The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has a lovely warm patina and the pine has mellowed to a pleasant colour over time. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside. There are some minor old marks on the top and general signs of age and use but nothing untoward. The desk has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
