A charming antique school desk dating from the early 20th century. It is constructed from pine with a folding X-frame base and a planked top with inset pen rest and a hole for an inkwell.
It is a good quality piece with a cast iron maker's plate stamped "McEvoy 15" and one of the stretchers is also stamped 15A.
It has a wonderful aged and worn patina with layers of naive graffiti on the top with various names carved into the wood and a date '1917'.
It is in good condition for its age and is structurally strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use and various marks and knocks but no major damages and no signs of worm. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
