An antique 'penny' style carver chair dating from the early 20th century. It has a thick round shaped seat, spindle back and scrolling arms supported by turned spindles. It stands on four turned legs joined by a H-stretcher.
The chair stands approximately 32" (81cm) high and it is 20 1/2" (52cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 20" (51cm) deep and 14" (36cm) high. The legs have been reduced in height at some point so the seat is lower than a normal chair
It is in good original condition with a nice colour. It is strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
