A good example of an antique 'penny' style carver chair dating from the late 19th / early 20th century. It has a thick round shaped seat, spindle back and scrolling arms supported by turned spindles. It stands on four turned legs joined by a H-stretcher.
The chair stands approximately 34 1/2" (88cm) high and it is 25 1/2" (65cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 21" (53cm) deep and 17 1/2" (45cm) high.
It is in good original condition with a nice colour. It is strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. There are signs of age and use, some marks and light knocks on the seat and around the legs and a small old repaired split in the top rail but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
