Beautiful example of a 19th century painted standard lamp originating from the Continent, likely France or Italy. It is made of wood with bulbous turning and carved foliate and fluting detail throughout. It is delicately painted in cream and light blue with floral details and gilded highlights.
It has been rewired to modern standards to take a standard bayonet bulb and it is fitted with a foot switch.
The lamp is in excellent condition with some minor signs of age and wear but nothing detrimental. It is strong and sturdy and displays beautifully.
