A beautiful oak stationery cabinet dating from the early 20th Century. It has a lovely warm patina with ornate brass corner pieces, a brass shield shaped cartouche and brass carrying handles. It comes with its original working key. The doors and drawer are connected so as when the drawer is pulled open the doors also open or vice versa.
The doors opens out to reveal a series of racks for holding papers and letters with two small drawers below. The larger drawer contains a pen tray and a glass inkwell. The top of this drawer is stamped with a registration patent mark "Reg'd 16166"
It is in very good condition. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside, general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There have been a few small repairs here and there and a small slither of wood has been added to the edge of the door to ensure they close tightly and the key works. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
