Beautiful metamorphic oak library chair dating from the late Victorian period . Superbly well made and such a quirky piece of furniture. It's a simple design with a small carving on the back rail which gives it a slightly gothic look.
It transforms easily in one movement from chair to steps. There is a metal latch on the side which holds it in place as both a seat and steps.
Approximate Measurements:
Height as steps : 36" / 92cm
Height as chair : 36" / 92cm
Seat width : 16" / 41cm
Seat depth : 14" / 36cm
It is in good original condition with a nice patina. The joints are clean and strong and the whole piece is sturdy. There are some small knocks and minor marks and an old split on the seat that has been repaired but nothing that concerns us. It displays very well and has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
