A lovely oak desk chair dating from the early 20th Century. It is a good comfortable chair and very well made with a cushioned upholstered seat. It has an attractive shape with a curved back and wide arms. It stands on bulbous turned legs joined by a double stretcher. It makes a lovely desk chair but would also be a nice library or hall chair.
It is stamped below the seat for the maker "B.North & Son. West W". It also has the crown and "AM" for Air Ministry meaning it would have been a military chair most likely used in an office.
It is approximately 31 1/2" (80cm) high, the arms are 26" (66cm) wide and the chair is 20" (51cm) deep. The seat is approximately 18" (46cm) high.
It is in very good condition for its age. It has developed a lovely aged patina with a rich colour and is structurally very sound. There are signs of age and use and it is not without a few small marks here and there but nothing detrimental or untoward. The seat cover has worn in places but it still displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
