A superb miniature chest of drawers, dating from the mid to late 19th Century. It is a charming piece with four long drawers, although the top one is made to look like two smaller ones. Each drawer has small round knobs. It is made from a super quality burr wood, possibly a mixture of burr walnut and burr oak - even the back is made from this wood. It is very well made and has developed the most wonderful colour and patina. It was likely an apprentice piece or a salesman's sample, although it is particularly smaller than the usual examples.
It is in good original condition and is strong and sturdy. The drawers are clean and tidy and all open smoothly. There are some general signs of age and use and minor marks, a small chip on the top corner of one drawer and a chip on one knob but nothing detrimental and overall it displays very well.
