A superb miniature chest of drawers dating from the early 19th Century. It is very well made with boxwood stringing, small turned knobs, inlaid escutcheons, hand cut dovetail joints and individual locks in each drawer. The quality is excellent and it was likely an apprentice piece or a salesman's sample. It is made from mahogany and has two short over three long drawers and stands on bracket feet with an overhanging top.
It is in good original condition. It has a nice warm patina and it is sturdy and the joints are strong. The drawers are clean and tidy and all open smoothly. There are some general signs of age and use and minor marks, some small chips and minor losses (all photographed) and one lock is missing and has been replaced with a metal plate but overall it displays very well and there are no major damages or anything detrimental.
