Great example of an original early 20th century shell carrier, used in battle to carry artillery ammunition. It is of typical form covered in brown leather with a leather carrying handle and lined with canvas. It has a very nice polychrome armorial coat of arms applied to the front of the carrier.
It is one of the best I've seen and is in excellent condition for its age. The leather has a beautiful worn and aged patina without having suffered any major damages or losses. There are some minor losses to the coat of arms but it is still bright and vibrant. The handle is in excellent condition and the lining is generally clean with no tears.

These shell carriers are now commonly used as stick stands and make great decorative pieces.
