A lovely mahogany campaign desk dating from the late 19th Century. It is a pedestal desk with 1 long drawer below the writing surface and a further 6 short drawers in the pedestals. The top of the desk has a raised gallery around the edge and an inset black leather-type writing surface. It has its original brass inset military handles and brass internal latches to lock the desk in place.
The desk is in good condition for its age. It has been well travelled but has a good look and has been well maintained. It has a lovely rich patina and the drawers run well. There is some fading, particularly on one side and general light marks and knocks and signs of age but nothing detrimental. The lock is missing in one drawer and a more modern lock has been fitted on the bottom drawer which comes with a key. The feet have been tipped slightly to add an extra inch of height. The inside of the drawers are generally clean and tidy but there are some minor ink stains.
