Product Details

A lovely military campaign chest dating from the early 20th century. It's made of mahogany with recessed brass handles, brass corner pieces and it stands on bun feet. Typical of campaign furniture it splits into two parts, with brass carrying handles on each section and the two sections are held in place with small wooden pegs.

The top drawer conceals a secretaire with a fitted interior. The drawer front hinges down and reveals a lovely green leather writing surface and a series of small drawers and pigeonholes around a small central cupboard with its original key.

It is in good condition with a nice aged patina. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and open well and the back is good and solid. There are some signs of age and use, some small knocks, chips and surface marks but nothing untoward or detrimental. The bun feet are later replacements but suit the piece well. The secretaire has been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
